About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2008. It offers a four year B.E. degree programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Two year PG programme in M.E – Power Electronics and drives.

The course has been designed to provide students a strong foundation in theory to equip them with skills that are necessary to grasp and develop new technologies. The faculty members are dedicated towards maintaining a high quality of teaching and always encourage innovative research. Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering have always been in the forefront of providing quality need - based training in contemporary and emerging areas and development of demand driven and innovative instructional resources.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is designed to prepare graduates for responsible engineering positions in design, development, research, applications and operation in the fields of Control systems, Electromagnetism, Power Electronics & Drives, High voltage, Communication, Digital Signal Processing systems, Digital and Analog Electronic Circuits, Computer Aided Design and Power Systems. The Department imparts training with the best of teaching expertise in fields of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics & Drives, Process Control & Instrumentation and Applied Electronics supported by excellent laboratory infrastructure and exposure to recent trends in the industry, to ensure that the students are molded into competent electrical engineers and worthy citizens of the country. Our students of the department have excelled in placement of fresh graduates, with a recruitment of above 90 %. The job preference of students has undergone a slight change in recent years from predominantly IT related jobs to several opting for core companies.

Dr. K.Kanimozhi is a Professor and Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. She obtained her BE degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering in 2000, her ME degree in Applied Electronics from Mohamed Sathak Engineering College in 2004, and her Ph.D.  in Faculty of Electrical Engineering in the year   2017 from Anna University, Chennai.

From 2000, she was involved in teaching and research development activities. She has a teaching experience of 22 years and has worked as a Professor and Head of the Department in various institutions

Her research area includes Power Electronics, Robotics, and Renewable Energy. She has published  25 papers in various National and International journals and presented 24 research papers at National and International conferences. She is a reviewer for journals such as  Solar Energy, the Journal of Circuits and Computers, and the Asian Journal of Research in Computer Science. She has published two patents. She has delivered several keynote addresses.

She is a recognized supervisor at Anna University, Chennai, supervising research scholars. She has mentored   M.E. and B.E. student projects.

She is a recipient of the best teacher award from the Aurobindo society for innovation and the IEASE best teacher Award. She received the Best Paper award at IEEE International Conference. She has received a Reviewer award from Solar energy – Elsevier, Asian Journal of Research in Computer Science.

She is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical  Education (MISTE) and a member of the International Association of Engineers (MIAENG).
