About the Department

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at NPRCET was started in the year 2008 under the affiliation of Anna University. The department has an intake of 60 students in Under Graduate program and an intake of 9 in the Post Graduate M.E-VLSI Design program. The department’s laboratories are well equipped where need-based and demanded training has been provided. Students gain a strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in the field of efficient reliable software and hardware to meet the industrial requirements. In our department, we have 6 laboratories and high-speed internet (100 Mbps) to precede state-of-the-art facilities for carrying out projects in Embedded Technology, VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing, and Wireless Communication. Exclusive Centre of Excellence for IoT and Embedded Technology supported by Tessolve Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore is available. The faculty members are highly qualified and dedicated. They have excellent teaching skills to develop their students with employability skills. The Department of ECE has received 22 University ranks in Anna University Examinations till now. The department is recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai.

Graduates of the Electronics and Communication Engineering Program will be able

PEO1 To have a successful career in academia or industries associated with Electronics and Communication Engineering or as an entrepreneur.

Program Outcomes (POs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to: 

PO1 Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. 
PO2 Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences. 
PO3 Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. 
PO4 Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. 
PO5 Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

Dr. M. Ameena Banu is working as a Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NPR College of Engineering & Technology, Natham. 

She received her B.E degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from AK College of Engineering, Krishnancoil, Srivilliputhur affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University in 1999, and her M.E degree in Communication Systems from Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti, Viruthunagar in 2010. She was awarded a Ph.D. degree from Anna University, Chennai in 2020.

Her research interest includes RF System, Microwave Engineering, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Wireless Communication. She has published more research papers in reputed International and National Journals and presented her research ideas at International and National Conferences. 

She has teaching experience of more than 20 years.  She started her career as a Lecturer and worked as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in various reputed institutions. She has guided more than 25 student projects at the Undergraduate level and 5 student projects at the Postgraduate level. She has organized many workshops/seminars/orientation programs for the benefit of the students during her service in various institutions. 

She has published a book on RF & Microwave Engineering and Two patents. She has delivered many guest lectures and received the Best Project Award at the State Level during ESIC 2014. She was the mentor for the students who participated in the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon-Senior Software Edition 2022.

She is a Life member of The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and a Fellow Member of The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (FIETE).
